Hello and Welcome to Born to Travel!
I'm Nina Lynch, and I’m so excited to share my journey — and hopefully become part of yours too.
I was born in Bulawayo, Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe), to my wonderful parents, John and Lilian Lynch. My dad was originally from Liverpool, UK, and my mum from Durban, South Africa. We eventually settled in a beautiful town called Pinetown, just outside of Durban — and wow, what a place to grow up!
Think sunshine, sandy beaches, family safaris, and the sounds of African wildlife. My childhood was filled with adventure, culture, and the joy of being outdoors. I think it was those early memories — warm days, family trips, and the buzz of discovery — that lit a spark in me to explore the world.
When I was nearly six, we emigrated to the UK. Though the weather was a little colder, that desire to travel only grew stronger.
How It All Took Off
In my teen years, I studied a BTEC National Diploma in Business and Finance, and snuck in as many Travel & Tourism modules as I could! I even did work experience in travel agencies — which was all it took to catch the travel bug (officially). Later, I went on to complete a Higher National Diploma, followed by a BSc (Hons) in Business, Finance and Tourism at Brunel University in Buckinghamshire.
Life, as it does, pulled me in other directions — but never too far from my dream. I’ve been lucky enough to travel to places like Spain, France, Germany, Malta, The Canaries, the Greek islands (Corfu and Zante), and even more exotic destinations like the Dominican Republic, Mexico, and Tobago.
Even when travel wasn’t my full-time focus, it was always in my heart.
Reigniting the Dream
Funny how life works — one random conversation with a friend changed everything. She had recently started working in travel and, knowing my passion, said, “Nina, this is so you. Why not give it a go again?”
So, I did.
